Slave Wrecks Year 3 Project Update

Members from the Slave Wrecks Project-St. Croix will present the current status and results of their multiple research efforts across St. Croix. Dr. Meredith Hardy (National Park Service) will present the results summaries of findings and results from three years of survey and community archaeology at Christiansted National Historic Site (CHRI) and Buck Island Reef National Monument.
Special Guest: Mary Elliott, Curator of American Slavery at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture
Dr. Justin Dunnavant, Dr. Alicia Odewale, Dr. Ayana Flewellen, and Dr. Alexandra Jones will discuss their research and community archaeology at the Estate Little Princess. They will present the results of their field investigations so far, which provides training and hands-on archaeological experience for undergraduate students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as students from the Caribbean Center for Boys and Girls on the island of St. Croix.
